CODY MATECHUK
I have lived my life with three guiding principles:
Live What You Love
If You're Going to do Something, Do It Right
Every Day is Another Chance to Get Closer to Your Goal
For as long as I remember I was always driven to the Extreme. Pushing our bike ramps back 1 foot at a time, Being the first to send it down a gnarly toboggan hill, or banging bars on the moto track since I was a tyke. No matter the circumstance it’s the same feeling of progression that gets me every time. Ending the day being a little bit better then when you started it.
Extreme sports may seem foreign and understood to some but this is where this lifelong progression session has landed me. X Games Gold medalist, Wingsuit Base jumper, MX, FMX, Snowboard, Paramotor, Speedfly, MTB, Skateboard, Bull riding and more, have all found chapters in my life allowing new skills and experiences to pull from as I push to learn more.
Road to Success
Born from the gritty beginnings of motocross, Cody started racing on a Yamaha PW50 at only 4 yrs of age. This early start lead to his first provincial motocross title racing the 65cc class.
Soon after, this up and comer was given an opportunity to represent his nation in the discipline of mini road racing at the Metrakit World Championships in Spain, finishing as the top racer in North America.
Balancing the two worlds of MX and roadracing, 2007 became a year that would define his career path. A move to the Canadian Superbike series propelled this exciting young competitor into a new world of headlines. Crossing over to make his debut on the Canadian National road racing circuit in 2008 on board a Suzuki SV 650. He re-wrote the record books with 4 out of 6 possible National track records that inaugural year and a National Championship title in this class.
The young Albertan returned in 2009 to compete in the Amateur 600 Series and once again, a near flawless season earned this young hopeful another 4 National race wins, 4 more blistering track records and his second National title in just two years!
Matechuk graduated to the pro ranks of road racing in 2010. Putting his National Championship winning streak on the line, he became the first Rookie Pro to hit the Pro Nationals Podium 4 times earning him the HJC Pro Rookie of the Year Title.
Matechuk continued racing the pavement with Harley Davidson that next year, and even with some technical setbacks he managed to wrap up a second in the 2011 Harley-Davidson XR1200 National Championship, before retiring from road racing and making the journey back to motocross. In 2014 & 2015, Matechuk made a few impromptu appearances in the National Motocross Championships turning heads with his top 25 finishes (running without any race budget or significant sponsorship).

In 2016 Matechuk turned his primary focus from the dirt, to snow and skies as he began travelling the world, filming massive drops and base jumps for numerous feature films. All while working R&D to put out cutting edge products under the Yeti badge. That same year, the winter XGames announced that snowbikes would become a featured event in the 2017 games.
Competing as a privateer in this inaugural 2017 XGames, Matechuk overcame all types of adversity to breakout and land a spot on the podium. The never-say-die comeback ride propelled his popularity and landed him some big sponsorship.
Returning in 2018 as a top title contender, Matechuk came in as the man to watch for but he finished as the 2018 gold medallist.
The world watched in anticipation with record number crowds and followers dipping into the hundreds of thousands. Now that Matechuk was on top, did he have what it took to stay there?
In 2019 and 2020 Matechuk would repeat his gold medal excellence landing him a record-breaking win streak with his second and third gold medals, making him the winningest snowbike racer in history.
The following year the industry was held hostage by a global pandemic but it didn't keep Matechuk from getting airborne, setting hew standards and growing his fan base. In fact, Matechuk made time to diversify, branching into Freestyle MX.
Learning is a skill that I pride myself on.
A skill like any skill that gets better the more you practice it. The process of learning has always entranced me, becoming a rookie over and over and being thrown out of your comfort zone is not for everyone but it is something that I have grown fond of.
It’s a process, a journey the same as LIFE. And isn’t that what Life is about? Enjoying the Journey, NOT the Destination.
I strive to fulfill my goal of living life to its fullest. Everything I do is born from a passion to live life and embrace all it has to offer. Now I Challenge you do to the same in your own way…
